AMG is offering a special edition of the SL, the Motorsport Collectors Edition, that is based on the range-topping 63 model. This edition features visual updates that pay homage to the 2021 F1 car, the W12, rather than the previous year’s W13. The car’s metallic paint features a gradient from silver to obsidian black, with contrasting Petronas green accents. The rear of the car also features multiple three-pointed stars, similar to the design of the race car.

Despite a Formula 1 season for Mercedes in 2022, where the team only secured one race win with George Russell in Brazil, the automaker has decided to celebrate the end of the season with a special edition of the SL. Although the team saw Russell finish fourth in the driver standings and Lewis Hamilton in sixth, AMG is still honoring the occasion with this limited release.

The AMG Aerodynamics Package comes standard in the special edition SL, which includes larger flics on both the front and rear aprons, as well as a more prominent diffuser and modifications to the underbody to enhance airflow. Additionally, the special edition SL also features black accents from the AMG Night Package and AMG Night Package II, such as a black chrome grille, dark brake calipers, and black badging.

The SL 63 Motorsport Collectors special edition comes with 21-inch 10-twin-spoke wheels and a black electrically operated fabric roof. The AMG Performance seats are available in black Nappa leather with either red or yellow stitching, both with an embossed AMG emblem on the headrests. The package also includes a carbon fiber trim, a Burmester sound system, a head-up display, and the AMG Track Pace telemetry system.

Mercedes is producing only 100 units of the SL 63 Motorsport Collectors Edition roadster, each of which comes with an indoor car cover made from synthetic fabric that is resistant to tearing and features an anti-static lining of woven flannel on the inside to protect the car from scratches and dust. The car does not have any additional power enhancements and uses the same twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 engine that delivers 585 horsepower (430 kW) and 800 Newton-meters (590 lb-ft) of torque. This engine allows the car to accelerate from 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 3.6 seconds and reach a top speed of 196 mph (315 km/h).
