Lamborghini Urus PHEV 2024

Do you recall the bonkers Asterion LPI 910-4? That 2014 plug-in hybrid concept never made it to the production line, but fear not, because Lamborghini’s first PHEV model that can be purchased by the elite is coming soon to replace the Aventador. CEO Stephan Winkelmann revealed at a preview event for the new V12 hybrid supercar that the Urus will receive the PHEV treatment in 2024, confirming earlier rumors.

It’s worth noting that Lamborghini has already created and sold a hybrid in the form of the limited-edition Sián FKP 37, which used supercapacitors for partial electrification. The upcoming Urus PHEV is expected to employ a powertrain similar to the Porsche Cayenne Turbo S E-Hybrid, as the high-performance SUV from Zuffenhausen is getting ready for a mid-cycle upgrade. In its current form, the twin-turbo V8 and electric motor combine to produce 671 horsepower. It remains to be seen whether the Lamborghini equivalent will be equipped with a more powerful configuration.

Get ready to be electrified by the Lamborghini lineup as the Italian supercar brand is all set to go green. The upcoming Huracan successor, slated to hit the market in late 2024, will be a plug-in hybrid, as per the brand’s top honcho. While there is no confirmation yet on whether the new model will retain its naturally aspirated V10 or opt for a V8, the Aventador successor, codenamed LB744, will keep the V12 engine. Fingers crossed that the baby Lambo retains its ten cylinders.

But wait, there’s more! Lamborghini’s first electric vehicle is expected to hit the market in 2028. While the details are scarce, the brand’s top executives have confirmed that the EV will have four seats, two doors, and a higher ground clearance than your typical Lamborghini. The Urus, Lamborghini’s most successful product, is also set to undergo a significant change. In 2029, the SUV will transition to an all-electric drivetrain, thereby phasing out its V8 engine and combustion engine used in the plug-in hybrid.
