The Upcoming 2026 Volkswagen ID. Buzz is a cool electric van that brings back the old VW Microbus style from the 1960s and ’70s. It’s a small van, and the front design looks like the classic Microbus, with a bit of influence from the 1990s VW Eurovan. Even though it has that retro vibe, the ID. Buzz is super modern and has all the newest electric vehicle technology.

The Volkswagen ID. Buzz runs on a big 91-kWh battery, powering an electric motor for the rear wheels. The single motor version has 282 horsepower, moving the van at a top speed of 99 mph. Another version with two motors will be out too, packing 330 hp and providing all-wheel-drive.

Volkswagen’s Euro van is a bit slow, taking 10.2 seconds to reach 62 mph. The North American ID. Buzz is expected to be quicker, but no specific times are given yet. Regular minivans take about 7.9 seconds to reach 60 mph, and mainstream electric vehicles do it in around 7.5 seconds on average, with weight being a key factor.

The single-motor ID. Buzz is super powerful, even more than its rivals, but it’s way heavier too. The European one is already 600-700 pounds heavier than others, and the American version with a bigger battery will be even heavier. The brakes aren’t our favorite; stopping smoothly can be tricky. Also, the regenerative braking won’t bring you to a complete stop.

Consider the ID. Buzz for its excellent storage options! Up front, there are big pockets and rubberized trays for small items, like a deep well next to the steering wheel for your smartphone. You’ll find four USB charge ports in the front and one at each sliding door in the back.

The center storage bin has folding openings, configurable cup holders, and can be easily removed for a clear path to the second row. It’s exciting to see what accessories the aftermarket will create for this space!
