The Nissan GT-R Premium Edition T-Spec 2024 model will be unveiled at the Nissan booth at the 2023 Tokyo Auto Salon, with Ashwani Gupta, the automaker’s COO, and Takashi Kawaguchi, the chief vehicle engineer, participating in the presentation. Additionally, Kawaguchi, Naoki Nakata, the chief powertrain engineer, and brand ambassador Hiroshi Tamura will also give insights on the new model later on the same day.
The teaser from Nissan does not suggest that the company is planning to launch a next-gen GT-R, but the presence of high-level personnel such as the COO, chief vehicle engineer, and chief powertrain engineer at the launch event may indicate that the 2024 model will feature significant updates or changes.
The 2021 GT-R was the most recent model to receive updates, which included the T-Spec edition that came in special colors such as Millennium Jade and Midnight Purple. This edition also featured the wider front fenders and carbon-fiber rear spoiler of the Track trim, along with brake air guides from the Nismo model, and Rays forged aluminum and carbon-ceramic brakes. Production was limited to 100 units, with 65 units being made available in North America.
There is speculation that Nissan may release a Final Edition of the GT-R with an increased engine output of 710 horsepower (529 kW) and 575 pound-feet (780 Nm) of torque, similar to the GT-R50 by Italdesign. The automaker may also limit production to a small number, possibly as low as 20 units.
