The interior in the video appears to belong to the regular LT, as it lacks the red accents of the sporty 2024 Equinox EV RS. Speaking of these trim levels, the fine print at the beginning of the video reiterates that the RS will be available in fall 2023, while the availability of the LT will be announced at a later date—it will likely launch in 2024.
During GM’s Q1 2022 earnings call, CEO Mary Barra said the 2024 Chevrolet Equinox EV will be revealed in early fall 2022 before entering production roughly a year later.DETROIT – Chevrolet will expand its EV lineup in fall 2023 to include the Equinox EV, an affordable, functional compact SUV that will start at an estimated MSRP of around $30,0001 in the U.S. The Equinox EV, which will be launched with both fleet and retail versions, including LT and RS trims, will leverage GM’s Ultrium Platform.
"The Equinox has always played an important role for Chevrolet as the second-highest selling brand nameplate," said Steve Hill, Chevrolet vice president. "Providing an affordable EV option in the industry’s highest-volume segment proves Chevy is going to make EVs available to everyone." The announcement of the Equinox EV comes on the heels of Chevy’s reveal of the 2024 Silverado EV and confirmation of the Blazer EV SUV, which will be available in spring 2023.
Although it wears the Equinox nameplate, the 2024 Chevrolet Equinox EV bears little else in common with that compact SUV. Not the least of which is its powertrain, which swaps gasoline power for electrons. The Equinox EV’s exterior styling blends futuristic touches with more traditional crossover design cues, and it looks pretty cool. Chevy hasn’t yet released many details about the new SUV, but we expect a driving range of close to 300 miles per charge. Unlike the smaller Bolt EUV, we expect the all-wheel-drive to be an option on the Equinox EV, which likely means dual electric motors and slightly more power than the 200-hp Bolt. Few details have been shared about the Equinox EV’s interior, but from the photos, we can see a digital dashboard similar to that of the recently revealed Silverado EV and styling themes that mirror the Bolt EV hatchback and Bolt EUV crossover. The front passenger space looks similar to the current Equinox, but we’ll have to wait for more details and a test drive to know for sure. The 30-second clip opens with a glowing bow-tie logo sitting above the Earth spinning below during a lunar eclipse. In the video description, Chevy writes: Lunar eclipses bring new beginnings. The first-ever All-Electric Equinox is coming. Of course, we’ve known for a while that the Equinox EV is set to arrive in the fall of 2023. Along with giving off sci-fi vibes often associated with electric vehicles, the lunar eclipse in the video coincides with the actual lunar eclipse that occurred today (May 16). Next, the video transitions into a close-up shot of the new HVAC vent, which is one of two circular units located on either end of the dashboard. The fine print below tells us we’re looking at the inside of an LT trim level, but we’re told its availability will be announced at a later date. The RS model will likely arrive first in the fall of 2023. Chevy hasn’t said how much the 2024 Equinox EV RS will cost, but the LT is said to start, The next shot shows Equinox’s floating center console, complete with an open storage space on the bottom and a cubby on top that’s located underneath the center stack. One of the most distinctive features shown in the video is the ambient lighting on the passenger side of the dash and the panel near the door handle. In the video we see the color of the lights change from white to blue, and Chevy says on its consumer website that the colors can be personalized. The final scene is a wide-angle view of the dashboard, including the digital gauge cluster and the massive touchscreen that controls the infotainment system. We also catch a glimpse of the SUV’s steering wheel and what looks like a column-mounted shifter. This is corroborated by the lack of a gear selector on the center console, which we get to see from a higher angle that shows a pair of USB-C ports alongside a pair of cupholders. A closer inspection of Chevy’s video shows an odometer reading of 48,211 miles. That number is also the zip code for GM’s Factory Zero plant in Detroit, Michigan. That’s the same factory where the GMC Hummer EV is being built, and it’s part of GM’s ambitious plan to build 400,000 EVs in North America by the end of 2023. Naturally, the 2024 Equinox EV will play a big role in that when it hits the streets. Chevrolet has been talking about its new 2024 all-electric Equinox EV for a minute now. The company has teased us with some pics, and it’s some info. But finally, it’s showing us a video that shows what the new 2024 Chevrolet Equinox compact SUV will look like the video of the compact 2024 Equinox you can finally see the curves and some of the elements. The E in Equinox is simply three bars. It’s curvy. It has all of the requisite electric-car elements, like a smooth grille and super-small projector headlamps. You can see the charge port in front of the driver’s door. It has two-tone paint, with a white roof, that visually lowers it.
The C pillar in the back is a shark-like fin that echoes the sports bar on the new electric Silverado truck. In the video at least we see taillamps light up in a horizontal stream that could also be sequential turn signals, like a Ford Mustang. In the middle of the front grille, you can see what looks like a camera, which hints at some of the driver safety aids like adaptive cruise control, the 2024 Chevrolet Equinox could have. Two pods could hint at radar-cruise or be part of a 360-degree camera system. You can also the indents for the parking sensors on the bumper and subtle turn signals on the mirrors. The door handles fit flush like on a Tesla.
Through the driver’s side window the 2024 Chevrolet Equinox appears to have a tall infotainment screen sticking up in the middle of the dash. The new Equinox is expected to debut in the fall of 2023 in LT and LS trims. The current Chevy Equinox offers a street-racer-styled RS package, and we certainly hope the tuners at Chevy try that on the EV version, too.

The full Equinox line just got a facelift for the 2022 model year, bringing a new grille, updated headlights, and a sharper rear-end design. Even so, the Equinox EV is a further evolution of that shape, with a sleeker profile and unique, futuristic interior. The sporty RS trim appears to feature contrasting color upholstery and a carbon-look dash. Chevy hasn’t elaborated on the new SUV’s tech and options offerings, but the teaser images show a tech-forward space with a large central display and digital gauge cluster. The Equinox EV rides on GM’s Ultrium platform, which also underpins the Cadillac Lyriq, Chevy Silverado EV, and GMC Hummer EV. The shared flexible foundation allows the automaker to quickly scale its EV lineup without severe development costs for each model. Depending on the configuration, it also enables a range of more than 400 miles, so the Equinox EV could offer a heavy-hitting range to go with its strong value proposition. Chevrolet plans to release the Equinox EV in late 2023 as a 2024 model. Before that, however, the automaker will release the Blazer EV in spring 2023. No pricing or details are available for the Blazer yet, but it’s expected to be slightly more expensive than the Equinox EV as it is a larger SUV.
