Ford is currently in the process of revamping its light commercial vehicle range for the European market. With the debut of the new Transit Custom lineup and the inclusion of a fully electric version, as well as the addition of Volkswagen technologies and platforms to the Tourneo Connect last year, it’s clear that Ford is committed to staying ahead of the competition.
The latest addition to this range is the Tourneo Courier, set to fill the gap between the Transit Custom lineup and the Tourneo Connect. While the cargo version, known as the Transit Courier, was spotted earlier this year, we now have a glimpse of the passenger derivative in our latest spy shots.
Though the prototype is covered in camouflage, we can see some of its design features. While it may not look impressive at first glance, considering how great the new Transit Custom looks, we have faith that the Tourneo Courier will not disappoint.
With Ford’s commitment to providing customers with innovative and reliable vehicles, we can expect the Tourneo Courier to offer the latest technologies and features to meet the demands of the modern driver. As we eagerly anticipate its official debut, we can’t wait to see what Ford has in store for the Tourneo Courier.
Ford is revamping its light commercial vehicle lineup in Europe, with the latest addition being the Tourneo Courier. The passenger derivative of the Transit Courier was spotted recently, and although camouflaged, it shows some basic design characteristics. The van may not be impressive in appearance, but we can expect it to provide a vehicle-like experience, with a mix of hatchback and small crossover features. The cabin will be roomy, prioritizing functionality over aesthetics, which is expected in this segment.
Based on a modified version of the Puma’s platform, which is based on the Fiesta, the Tourneo Courier is likely to feature Ford’s 1.0-liter EcoBoost turbocharged engine as its core offering in most European markets. There is also the possibility of a 1.5-liter diesel engine with electric support in certain countries on the continent. For those looking for a fully electric van, the Transit Courier EV and Tourneo Courier EV will join the range at a later date. The LCV duo will be manufactured at Ford’s Craiova plant in Romania, where the Puma crossover is currently being assembled.
