Ford is expanding its range of Ranger trims in Europe with the introduction of two new models, the Tremor and Wildtrak X. These two new trims stand out from the crowd with their unique styling touches and upgraded suspension bits.
Last week, we reported on the launch of the Ranger Wildtrak X in Australia. This model boasts increased ground clearance and a wider stance, which Ford has enhanced with an upgraded long-travel suspension. Bilstein dampers and a heavy-duty steering system now come as standard, along with a steel bash plate to protect the truck’s oily bits.
The Wildtrak X also features Ford’s Trail Turn Assist, which can reduce the turning radius of the truck by 25 percent using brake-based torque vectoring. Other software features include Trail Control, an off-road version of cruise control, and Rock Crawl mode, which was once exclusive to the Ranger Raptor. This mode helps the truck navigate uneven and rocky terrain by managing throttle response, traction control, and gearshift schedule.
The Tremor is based on the XLT trim but also benefits from the chassis and technology upgrades found in the Wildtrak X. The Tremor features the X’s revised suspension geometry, which has required Ford to add fender arches to contain the wider track.
Ford has upgraded the appearance of the Tremor with a long-leg tubular sports bar around the bed and cast aluminum side steps. The truck also has a darkened grille, Boulder Gray exterior accents, and exposed twin front tow hooks. Inside, water-resistant vinyl trim has been added to the seats and floor. The Ranger Tremor is available with an optional pre-wired overhead switch pack with six inputs that owners can use for a winch, a light bar, and other equipment.
Both the Wildtrak X and Tremor models are powered by Ford’s 2.0-liter turbodiesel four-cylinder engine, which produces 202 horsepower and 360 pound-feet of torque. Power is routed to the pickup’s full-time four-wheel drive system through a 10-speed automatic gearbox.
The Ranger Wildtrak X and Tremor are now available to order in Europe, with deliveries expected to begin in August. These two new trims will also feature Ford’s new Flexible Rack System, which will be available in the Limited and regular Wildtrak models. This system allows the truck to carry long items on the roof.
