Following their successful suspension kit release to prepare the BMW M4 for the challenging Nurburgring circuit, KW Suspensions has introduced an innovative DDC plug-and-play coilover kit tailored for the all-electric BMW i4 M50 Gran Coupe (G26). This cutting-edge kit is meticulously engineered to seamlessly integrate with the M50 Gran Coupe’s adaptive rear axle air suspension, thereby elevating the electric Bimmer’s handling prowess to new heights.

In the pursuit of this engineering feat, KW embarked on a comprehensive overhaul of its DDC dampers specifically for the i4 M50. KW Brand Manager, Florian Johann, elaborated on this ambitious project, stating, "We left no stone unturned, reimagining the entire shock design. From the electronic magnetic proportional valve to the piston rod configuration, rebound travel, and the introduction of shortened KW stainless steel damper housings, every aspect has been meticulously adapted to harmonize seamlessly with the factory air suspension. Essentially, we remove the factory air suspension from the factory damper and graft it onto the adaptive KW DDC rear damper, offering users all the necessary tools for this transformation."

As showcased on the demonstration vehicle, the new coilover kit confers a substantial reduction in ride height upon the i4 M50. KW asserts that the vehicle is lowered by an impressive 20-40 mm at the front axle and 15-35 mm at the rear. It’s noteworthy that the vehicle in the accompanying images is equipped with the exquisite BBS CI-R alloy wheels, measuring 20x9 inches in the front and 20x9.5 inches in the rear. These wheels are elegantly clad with Goodyear Eagle F1 tires, measuring 245/35R20 in the front and 255/35R20 in the rear.

In addition to the remarkable improvements in handling dynamics and the sportier aesthetic provided by the DDC coilover kit, KW also suggests potential enhancements in driving range. This phenomenon is attributed to the lowered stance of the vehicle, which effectively tucks the wheels within the wheel arches, resulting in a superior drag coefficient.
