Need more space than the typical small SUV offers but don’t need three rows of seats? The 2023 Honda Passport may be just what you’re looking for. It occupies the space between the smaller Honda CR-V and the larger three-row Pilot. It’s essentially a smaller two-row version of the Pilot and it’s our current favorite in this class. It further distinguishes itself from the Pilot with added off-road abilities that are bolstered by the introduction of last year’s TrailSport trim.After last year’s styling refresh and a paring down of trim levels in the lineup, we expect the 2023 Passport to return largely unchanged. That should keep it in the top spot among two-row midsize SUVs that include the Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport, Jeep Grand Cherokee, and Hyundai Santa Fe. As much as we like the Passport, it’s not perfect. The Passport receives power from a highly refined V6 engine and brings the promise of Honda off-road driving to the market.Honda brings the 2023 version of the Passport to the market in the latter part of 2022. Expect this SUV to be on sale in the fall, but it could be as late as November or December before we see all trims of the Honda Passport available. All versions of this Honda SUV will use a 3.5-liter V6 engine attached to a 9-speed automatic transmission. This powertrain delivers 280 horsepower and 262 lb-ft of torque. The base EX-L model only comes in FWD, with the option of AWD. The TrailSport and Elite trims have AWD as part of the standard features package.The fuel economy numbers for the Passport are 20 city/25 hwy mpg for FWD versions and 19 city/24 hwy mpg in AWD models. Towing maxes out at 5,000 pounds for AWD versions of this SUV. If you opt for an FWD version, the maximum towing capacity is 3,500 pounds.

Your Honda Passport will fit right in with this crowd.Some trails in Sawtooth National Recreation Area are wide enough for your Honda Passport to drive, but this area of Idaho is more suited to single-track trail riding on ATVs.
