Nevertheless, the subcompact Skoda Epiq is primed to traverse roads atop a bespoke EV platform, potentially the MEB Entry, as previously disclosed by the Volkswagen Group. This framework has been teased by the German automotive behemoth through its ID.2all concept unveiled last year. While Volkswagen is charting the hatchback course, Skoda is forging ahead with this crossover concept.

Despite its relatively diminutive stature compared to the aforementioned Kamiq, the Epiq boasts significantly enhanced practicality. Thanks to its dedicated EV underpinnings, the cargo capacity reaches an impressive 490 liters (17.3 cubic feet), marking a more than 20 percent surge in space utilization. While the Czech marque remains mum on other technical specifics, it hints at a battery pack endowed with over 249 miles (400 kilometers) of range, presumably under the stringent WLTP cycle.

The MEB Entry platform is tailored for front-wheel-drive EVs, diverging from the conventional MEB utilized in the larger Enyaq, which favors rear-wheel propulsion. The pricier and more potent MEB-derived models peddled by the VW Group incorporate all-wheel-drive capabilities via an additional front motor. The potential inclusion of an all-paw setup for the MEB Entry models remains an open question for the future.

Skoda’s promotional lingo emphasizes that the Modern Solid design language will inject a rugged demeanor into forthcoming models.
