2025 BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe is released in March 2024 with the price of $40,400.
We find ourselves just a little over a year away from the commencement of production for the upcoming generation of the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe. It might boggle your mind that the current iteration was unveiled in 2020, yet the company’s game plan does not involve a mid-cycle makeover for this petite sedan. Instead, an entirely new model is in the works, known internally as the F74. Following the discovery of the first two prototypes by our trusty spies, we’re now ready to provide you with sneak peeks into the final design of the automaker’s smallest sedan.
Contained within the gallery below, you’ll discover two digital renderings graciously provided by our friends at Kolesa.ru, illustrating a markedly overhauled four-door BMW. While it doesn’t appear to deviate significantly from its existing side profile or dimensions, the front end has undergone a sharpening, courtesy of headlights seemingly inspired by the 5 Series. Thankfully, you won’t spot those oversized kidney grilles here, as the manufacturer has decided to reserve that bold design feature for its larger and performance-focused models.
By observing the quartet of exhaust pipes at the rear, one could deduce that the model showcased here might be the range-topping M235 xDrive, which had its photograph taken in prototype form early in August of this year. The next-generation 2 Series Gran Coupe will continue to utilize a front-wheel-drive platform, with the option of all-wheel drive available on select trim levels paired with specific engines.
This compact sedan could potentially be one of the last conventionally powered vehicles from the Bavarian brand as it advances towards full electrification. While the current 2 Series GC, still obtainable at the marque’s dealerships, offers diesel powertrain options in certain European markets, it’s possible that the controversial compression ignition technology might get one last shot with the new generation.
As per a recent report from BMW Blog, the base model in the United States will come equipped with 18-inch wheels as standard, with the option of upgrading to 19-inch rims. The illuminated grille feature, a signature seen on larger and more upscale BMW models, is rumored to be available as optional equipment for this sedan. In terms of power, the range-topping M235 xDrive is anticipated to deliver around 300 horsepower, thanks to the B48 2.0-liter turbocharged gasoline engine. Production is slated to commence in November 2024.
