The 2025 Mazda BT-50, marking an overdue refresh of the model, this mid-life facelift brings a fresh design, improved safety, and better technology. Outside, the BT-50 now boasts new LED headlamps, a reworked grille and bumper, complete with air curtains aimed at improving aero and reducing fuel consumption. Other external updates include all-new alloy wheels and a special ridged tailgate design; it looks decidedly more modern and chunky, too.

Inside, the BT-50 boasts more upgrades, including a new infotainment system with up to a 9.0-inch touchscreen and a customisable 7.0-inch multi-information display for the driver. Wireless Android Auto joins current wireless Apple CarPlay, and faster-charging USB-C ports are now standard, along with a USB outlet near the rearview mirror for dashcams. Inside, the appearance has been tweaked, too, with high-end models offering supple black and terracotta leather trims. All put together, changes that should make the BT-50 both more palatable and more useable.

Mechanically, the 2025 BT-50 sticks with its current engine choices: a 110kW/350Nm 1.9-litre and a 140kW/450Nm 3.0-litre four-cylinder turbo-diesel, both with a six-speed automatic transmission. By the way, manuals are gone altogether from the range. Also new is a ’rough terrain’ mode for superior traction control. Safety’s also been bolstered by the addition of new stereo cameras to improve the standard fit of autonomous emergency braking and intelligent adaptive cruise control.
