Reviving a name that once symbolized the pinnacle of urban mobility, Fiat pays homage to the classic Topolino, which graced the streets from 1936 to 1955. In an era when Europe’s city streets were congested and narrow, the Fiat 500, lovingly referred to as the Topolino, emerged as the perfect solution.

Capturing the essence of the dolce vita and embodying the spirited Italian flair, the new Topolino radiates a familiar Fiat aesthetic. Although the automaker has only unveiled a single photo of their latest electric vehicle, it is enough to discern that beneath the disguise lies the recognizable silhouette of the Citroën Ami.

Distinctive from its sibling models, namely the Citroën Ami and Opel Rocks Electric (essentially a rebadged Ami), the Fiat Topolino boasts notable stylistic enhancements at the front. A unique and bespoke front fascia, exclusive to the brand, exhibits a seamless design, adorned with two striking round headlights and two smaller circular turn signals positioned just below. In contrast, the Ami and Rocks Electric feature their turn signals positioned beneath the windshield.

Overall, the Fiat Topolino exudes an inviting charm that sets it apart from its Stellantis counterparts, evoking nostalgic memories of its larger sibling, the Fiat New 500.

In the unveiled photo, the Topolino is depicted without doors, suggesting the possibility of a beach buggy variant akin to the Citroën My Ami Buggy. Alongside the absence of doors, this petite electric vehicle showcases a foldable fabric roof, a delightful nod to its iconic predecessor, the Topolino.

While Fiat has yet to release additional photos of the Topolino, it is reasonable to assume that the rear end will receive similar stylistic treatment as the front, while the interior will likely bear a close resemblance to the Ami.

Underneath its charming exterior, the all-electric powertrain is expected to mirror that of the Ami. Powered by a 5.5-kilowatt-hour battery pack, the Topolino will channel its energy to an 8-horsepower (6-kilowatt) motor. The Citroën Ami, which serves as the foundation for the Topolino, boasts a range of 47 miles (75 kilometers) on the World Motorcycle Test Cycle (WMTC), with a top speed limited to 28 mph (45 kph).
