2025 BMW M5 Hybrid (G90) is launched in November 2024 with the cost of $12,3270.
Get ready for the next-generation BMW M5, as the brand is heading back to the Nürburgring to develop the new sport sedan with a plug-in-hybrid powertrain. Several of these M5s were caught on video, driving on the famous track and public roads in the area.
According to reports, the M5 PHEV will share a powertrain with the BMW XM, featuring a twin-turbo 4.4-liter V8, a single electric motor, and a 29.5-kilowatt-hour battery. With a similar tuning as the XM SUV, the sedan would boast 644 horsepower and 590 pound-feet of torque. However, if the XM Label Red tuning is applied, it could push the figures to a whopping 735 hp and 735 lb-ft, offering a wide range of setup options for the M5.
Although the M5s caught on camera were heavily camouflaged, we can spot a more aggressive front fascia with bigger inlets on the car with the 3677 license plate, distinguishing it from the regular 5 Series. On the other hand, the car with the 3049 license plate looks a bit different with additional covering on the front and fender extensions. It’s unclear whether this is another development vehicle or a hotter variant BMW is working on.
Earlier spy shots reveal the new M5’s interior with exposed elements, including a center console with a rotary control knob, a familiar look for BMW enthusiasts.
There’s no word on when the new M5 will debut, but it’s expected to come after the standard 5 Series premiere later this year. In the meantime, the fully electric i5 will arrive in October.
