2025 BMW M135i Hot Hatch is released in October 2024 with the price of $82,500.
The forthcoming BMW M135i has shed some of its camouflage, providing us with a clearer glimpse of its design. Recent developments in related segments give us insights into the power offerings of both the M135i and its 2 Series Gran Coupe counterpart.
Fortunately, the current spy shots reveal a less concealed front compared to earlier sightings this year. The headlights and front bumper seem prominently exposed, offering a preview of the notorious BMW kidney grille’s size. Impressively, the grille’s dimensions seem to harmonize with the car’s overall proportions, deviating from the trend of oversized grilles on BMW vehicles.
The headlights exhibit a resemblance to the BMW Z4, contributing to a non-aggressive front end. Examining the vehicle from the side, one can observe larger brakes and M-style mirror caps, while the rear proudly displays four round-tipped exhaust outlets.
Upon analyzing the overall design, door placement, and rear aesthetics, it appears that this might mark the debut of an aesthetically pleasing BMW hatchback. The first and second-generation models were design disasters (excluding the coupe and cabriolet). The third-gen improved slightly when it transitioned to a front-wheel-drive platform shared with Mini, but it still lacked visual appeal. Can this upcoming model break free from the dullness that plagued its predecessors?
The impending 1 Series seems to embody the classic hatchback profile, and to compete with rivals like the Mercedes-AMG A45 S and the Audi RS3, it requires a high-performance variant.
The M135i is anticipated to feature the same turbocharged four-cylinder engine found in the BMW X1 M35i and the recently unveiled X2 M35i, its more upscale counterpart.
Generating an impressive 312 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque, this powerplant stands as the most potent four-cylinder ever produced by BMW. Similar to its forerunner, the M135i is likely to be equipped with an xDrive all-wheel-drive system fine-tuned by the M division.
Power transmission will be facilitated by a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, optimized for performance. Considering the X2 M35i’s acceleration from 0-60 mph in 5.2 seconds, the M135i is expected to achieve an even quicker time due to its reduced weight and sleeker, more aerodynamic body. Anticipate standard M Sport brakes, with the option for Adaptive M suspension likely available.
